Learning That Matters
Optimism, Contracting, and Error
20th January 2021
14.00 - 15:30
Optimism is considered to significantly influence mental and healthy wellbeing.
Whilst optimism can serve us well – it can for instance give us courage to try new things – it can also lead us astray. Research over the years has found that the human brain is ‘hardwired for hope’: we come inbuilt with what is known as ‘Optimism Bias’, a tendency to make overly positive assumptions.
This session that fully supports of the Get It Right Initiative (GIRI) development program aims to:
• Introduce and explain Optimism Bias;
• Explore how it affects Contracting; and
• Leads to Error that impacts quality.
Learning will be achieved through: Polling/Survey; Group work in breakout rooms; and closing Plenary session.
