Head of Grants and Stimulus Packages
Maciej van der Steen has an M.Sc. in aerospace engineering from the Technical University of Delft. He has over 12 years experience in assisting company from various sizes obtaining public funding for R&D, innovation, and investment projects across Europe winning over £100m of funding in that time.
He currently specialises in UK business grants, and is the operational lead for the grants practice in England and Wales at EY. He firmly believes that funding is a means to an end rather than a goal, and works interactively with his clients to understand and explore the key innovation pathways in their organisation, and how public funding can be used to accelerate their developments.
Emily Williams
Senior Tax Manager - Innovation Incentives
Emily is a Senior Tax Manager in the EY Innovation Incentives team and leads our tax technical services to the construction industry. She is a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) and has significant experience in the preparation of claims within the construction industry, gained from a committed R&D-focussed role during the last 5 years.
Emily has worked with many different types of construction, architectural and structural engineering businesses, exploring projects with her clients to develop methodologies that will lead to a maximised, as well as robust, R&D claim. She has worked with many different sizes of clients over the past 5 years, largely focusing on those construction businesses within the SME sector.
Dan Culling
Engineering Manager
Dan is a Senior Engineering Advisor in the Innovation Incentives team and is responsible for providing technical support in the preparation of R&D claims. Dan has a MEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the University of Bath.
Prior to joining EY, Dan spent five years as a Project Engineer with one of the worlds leading project development and construction companies, responsible for managing various sub-contractors and design teams on multi-million pound construction projects throughout the UK. During a year secondment, Dan worked for a large London based design consultancy and has extensive knowledge of Eurocodes and structural design
